Hello :thumbup: I found this website today and some very helpfull stuff. I am Steve, 55 year old male from Swindon. Recently diagnosed type 2 and coming to the end of my 2nd week on the Newcastle diet. I thought it was a new thing but see plenty of people have tried it on here. Going ok so far but still a way to go.

I am a .44 yr old female, work full time and have 4 kids ranging from 14 to 20. I have been diagnosed with type 2 today, blood sugars were 16.4 last week and 26 today. Have felt like I have had a constant hangover without the pleasure of the alcohol! I gave been with the diabetic nurse for a short while this morning, a longer appointment on Monday. I have lost 1 stone in weight in 6 weeks (after dieting on various diets and plans for years, now weight is walking off without trying - it's the only good thing about this!!).
I have not been able to get much information on good you can eat do any help would be appreciated.

I have had diabetes type 1 for 32 years now and still learning, the weight will fall off you steadily as your blood sugars stay high once your diabetes is under control your weight will steady itself. stay away from sugary things fruits are good but some fruits carry high natural sugar...hope this helps as a starter for you

I was diagnosed as type 2 approx August 2011.since then I have managed to lose almost 2 stone ,I am om metforminAge 67 male,married have 2 cats at the moment,disabled,welsh ,no more to say at the moment

Wealthy in respect from others, love of my family, friends I have and my gorgeous children and grandchildren .... as for money .... I wish.... no mortgage but have two houses.

I'm always working at something .... not a paid job, more like trying to get my handcrafted cards and jewellry off the ground, trying to manage fibromyalgia, oesteoarthritis and diabetes .... oh and a house . I'd always been in work since leaving school until 2003 when i was made redundant from the Bank and my health got worse.

I study what ever i find interesting, could have gone to uni but got a great paid job straight from school which you could do in the 1970's, some college, some night school, and lots and lots of stuff, always learning ...

Hello all. My first time in the forum having been diagnosed with T2 in August. Currently not taking any medication but hoping to rely on diet and exercise! (Age 63) Have lost almost a stone already just by cutting out sugar/fat etc. and eating loads of salad and muesli!!!

I have had the usual eye exam and waiting for the podiatrist appointment to come through. My diabetic nurse says I should be hearing about a DESMOND course at some point. I was just wondering what the average length of time was between diagnosis and being invited to attend the course? My nurse was quite vague on the subject. I live near Northampton.

My T2 was picked up as a result of a routine blood test, otherwise I had not noticed any symptoms - but on reflection I realise that I had been particularly thirsty over recent months and maybe a little more tired that I should be at my age. I now realise that it was almost bound to happen. I have a diabetic elder brother, I sit behind a desk all day and am overweight - although I do not consider that my diet has been a major factor in my diabetes. I have always tried to avoid fast foods, puddings etc. . Clearly I now need to do a bit more on this and the exercise front!

hi my name is patrick carr i am type 1 my age is 58 i was 6 years old when i became a dibetic and belive me or not i was in and out of a coma for 6 years so when i came around i was 12 so i lost all my growing up as a child i am a PAGAN thats my relegion i dont work now disabalbed i cant spell very good because of my loss time from school so i hope evey one who reads this will forgive me my main hobbies r doing paranormal investagations i am in a group called stoke haunted i ave photos of full form ghosts or sprits as i call them i use to be a rocker in my young days so my music is havey rock like led zepp etc i ave now got renal trouble and a leaking vavle in my heart but i carry on as best i can and i hope we all can carry on in wot we do in life .
