Would be enjoying it better if I wasn't diabetic! I gave up work as I never had time to stop all day so often went from breakfast at 7.00am (got up at 4.30am to do horses) until 9.00pm when I had put the horses to bed without anything to eat or drink and I knew I could no longer do that and keep healthy with diabetes. As a biomedical scientist your son will be able to keep an eye on you and spell out the dire consequences of not keeping your glucose levels under control!!!!!

Hi my name is Laurie. I'm 51 and female. I was only diagnosed as Type 2 a couple of days ago. I'm still trying to get my head around everything. I'm so confused and wondering how I am going to cope.

Hello Laurie and welcome to the forum . It's a great place to start .

It's a lot to take in when you have to rethink how you eat and what you eat. I'm trying the low carb high fat diet, it sounds so wrong but after reading about others results here on the forum I'm giving it a go . Four days in and my levels are a lot better. I hope you settle soon , there's great links here well worth a read .

I've been reading some of them. I'm seeing my diabetic nurse in a week for the first time. I haven't got a monitor at the moment. I'm going to ask if I could have one as I think it would help me.
