I’m Richard, an active 75 year old living in Altrincham. I am married to Jayne and we’re without children. We used to be cocker spaniel owners, several in fact and are currently thinking about another. I am a retired self employed statistician and was a magistrate for 20 years. I now volunteer regularly at Manchester Crown Court, supporting witnesses when they give evidence and families who have lost members of their family through crime. It’s a good job we do because the criminal justice system tends to ignore them until the moment they appear in court. I support and am a season ticket holder at my local club, Manchester United (through thick and thin - pretty thin at the moment, but we had our time). I am also a Rugby League fan supporting Wigan Warriors. I started to play the piano about 3 years ago as I have a real love of music of almost any genre. Classical and Opera lead the list, but I’m not immune to the attractions and immediacy of jazz, rock and pop, though Coldplay really leave me cold. I have been healthy all my life until the last 12 months, but refuse to let my recent panic visits to hospital get me down. Fortunately I love a good book, fiction and non-fiction, and often have 3 or 4 on the go. Just finished Alan Cumming’s Not My Father’s Son, which was excellent.
