My name is Ruth. I'm not IT savvy enough to copy all the questions and answer them! I have been on the edge of diabetes for a few yrs and fell off the cliff/was diagnosed T2 about a year ago. My husband had diabetes and through bad management (his own & medics) developed major complications inc neuropahty, amputation of toes and other leg below knee, retinopathy , kidney problems etc etc. Went to meet his maker 6yrs ago. You'd think I would have heeded the warnings, but ............. any way here I am having just found this forum. I'm wanting to follow the Newcastle diet or similar but having trouble persuading the medics who put me straight on to metformin even though I was only just over the cut off point when first diagnosed. Also they are pushing me VERY hard to take statins, but I'm refusing. (Cholesterol 5.6 but bad ratio of "good/bad"). I'm a creative person, love painting, crafts, singing etc. None of which are particularly physical, so I'm trying to up my exercise. I'm a Christian, ( faith filled NOT religeous) and I try to live my life according to God's rules for living. I enjoy life as much as I can and want to do so as long as possible!
