<blockquote data-quote="alanno123" data-source="post: 333481" data-attributes="member: 53416"><p>iam alan 37 male type 2 since 2010</p><p>iam originaly from south tyneside</p><p>but now live in cramlington north tyneside</p><p>my story </p><p>iam married with 1 son whos 3 and 1 son who is due into the world in march</p><p>i was very nearly 19 stone and diagnosed type 2 diabetic approx 2 years ago and i did nothing at all (bury my head and it will go away) i love food all the bad foods especially chocolate and kebabs</p><p>i work in a pizza/kebab shop as a delivery driver to a very generous boss who allows me too eat absolutly anything i wish at all,</p><p>the diabetic nurse firstly put me on 2x metphormin and then after 1 year increased it to 4x metphormin and 1x glicaside cos my hbc1 was 7.5 i was already on simvastatin too</p><p>and then in august 2012 on the news there was a thing about newcastle university experiment and how diet and exercise can reduce and in some cases rid people of diabetes so i thought i might give that a shot</p><p>every1 says yeah yeah wot ever i was very nearly 19 stone and i ate anything and everything, my wifes a total chocoholic and loves her kebabs etc too but shes very slim and can eat anything without gaining weight </p><p>so i started eating cereal in the morning and a salad for my tea and that was it all day</p><p>i also started walking a couple ov miles a day, i would walk maybe 1 mile and my calf muscles would lock up and i would have too sit down for 10 mins .</p><p>then i got a bike (always loved my bike when i was a kid) started riding couple ov miles and found a very steep hill and thought 1 day iam gonna ride all the way up this without stopping first attempt i stopped twice.</p><p>i progressed every day a little at a time until where iam now</p><p>iam now under 14 stone and i run 4 times a week </p><p>i do 120 sit up everyday</p><p>monday =5k run</p><p>tuesday=5k run</p><p>wednesday=10k run</p><p>friday 12.5 miles cycle</p><p>saturday anything from 8 - 10 miles run</p><p>thursday and sunday are my days of rest </p><p>iam currently running 10k in under 50mins</p><p>iam doing the sunderland 10k run in april and the great north run in september sponsored for steps charity </p><p>last time i was at the doctors they took the glicaside off me and my next reveiw is in december where iam hoping they will reduce my metphormin </p><p>my bloods are always 4.6 in the morning and never go above 5.8 all day and my last hb1 test thingy was 4.7</p><p>and i feel great </p><p>now my diet consists of protein shakes and loads of fish, meats and cereal </p><p>and i have achieved this in 4 month,</p><p>i still work in the kebab shop and iam still welcome to eat anything i wish but i look at mysellf in the mirror and i like wot i see so therefore i wouldnt chance going back to wot i was for no amount of ****** food</p></blockquote><p></p>
