Hiya - hbA1C was 80 and fasted was 11.7 - thanks for the welcome!Welcome, have a good read around and ask questions when you want. Did you get the diagnosis numbers?
thanks Countrykins - good to hear positives - I haven't got a regime yet - see the nurse in a couple of weeks - first day of tablets todayHello - welcome to the forum- I am apparently a borderline type 2 diabetic apparently. - which came to light because of an annual routine blood test. No signs or symptoms. However no medication prescribed thankfully but I am on a regime to lose weight to match my BMI and my doc told me that would resolve the situation. So I'm giving it a go !!! and have bought the monitor and necessary gear to keep an eye on my glucose readings . I have been told to aim for under 5. Mmols. Haven't got below it yet but my highest reading about a fortnight ago was 8 Mmols. Though not recently so maybe I'm getting it right . Depends which part of the day you are checking in as well of course.
I too am a bowler - but happily no knee problems so can attend the roll ups and league games without any problem. Good Luck with whatever regime you have been given to get you sorted and back to bowling ASAP.

Thank youOK that's fairly high but not drastically so. Main thing is to start getting your blood sugars down. Most T2s get results from significantly cutting carbohydrates from their diet - bread, potatoes, pasta, rice especially. You will need a test meter to start checking what foods impact your blood glucose and which don't (most T2s have to buy their own as they won't be prescribed - SD Codefree from Amazon etc is the most cost effective for strips). Keep a food and exercise diary to build a record of your progress. As a PM you will probably revel in that!
I follow LCHF (www.dietdoctor.com/lchf), others are available.

I started my diary this morning - and your right being a PM I will soon have this on a spreadsheet!

Hi folks - just signed up - I was diagnosed yesterday with type 2 diabetes - this was found in my pre-op for a new knee - at least it has been diagnosed.
I am 46 and trying to glean as much info as possible!
I work as a project manager and in true Project Manager style that is how I will manage this condition - I am currently in the analysis phase! Any helpful tips appreciated.
I love playing bowls and can't wait to have the numbers under control so I can have my knee operation and get back on the bowling green
