Introduction.
My name is ISAAC ABERARE, A Nigerian, living in Lagos State, aged 62, married with many children. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 1995, been trying to control with diet, exercise &medication but the blood sugar keep fluctuating. Iam on insulin, galvus & meitformin. My current result are as follows: fbs 169.2 while hba1c 7.2

Anybody with similar situation with better control should get in touch. If there are better drugs and recent findings, pls make same available.

Hi and welcome. As I'm sure you realise, the right diet is always helpful and that means keeping the carbs under control. What sort of insulin 'regime' are you on? I guess it may be a mixed insulin twice a day? If this isn't good enough then, if it's available to you, the use of two insulins called 'Basal/Bolus' can give better control but means more injections each day. Once on insulin many stop most or all tablets although many including me still have Metformin as it helps and has other benefits. You may want to discuss stopping the Galvus with your doctor as it may no longer be necessary when on insulin but do check with him/her? I had to remind my DN to stop my gliptin (similar to Galvus) and my Gliclazide which she readily agreed with. Assuming your weight is reasonable, insulin remains a good treatment. For T2s who have a lot of excess weight, there are other injectables that help with weight loss.
