Just a quick note to introduce myself. I have been eyeing this forum for the lat couple of months - my 11 year old son was diagnosed as type I in late February this year. I am looking forward to being able to pick the brains of other mums as to how to get stroppy teenagers to look after themselves properly!

Hi Dot and welcome to the forum,
My son Andrew was diagnosed Feb 2006, he'll be 11yrs in November, any questions ask away, i'm happy to be of much help as i can.

Welcome to the forums.

I have a 12-year-old, but it is me who is the diabetic, not him. He can, however, be quite stroppy  :D

My current aim in his acquiring the skills for daily living is to get him to flush the toilet after using it. I can hear he has just done that, so something must be working!

Hi dot
I'm the T2 diabetic here, but As a grandmother, I've survived one generation of stroppy teenage and have the next to look forward to.
Look on posts by Katherine. She's a GP who has brought her diabetic son through this.
