'cos tonight I had to let my wife drive. I felt like **** and really shakey. done test when I got home 21/2 hours after dinner.

Hi

Lows 'officially' start at 4.

But...different people feel lows at a higher level.

I tend to start the shakes around 4.3 and can almost guarantee 10 mins later I will be below 4.

Hi Dave,

4.6 isn't particularly low but it is lower than your body is used to and it was telling you that! You were right to hand over the driving because your BS could well have continued to drop to a genuine hypo level. Some people who have uncontrolled diabetes with BS levels regularly in the 10s to 12s can get typical hypo symptoms when they drop to 6, just because that is so much lower than their bodies are used to.

I would think everyone is diferant, I get mine at 4.2-4.3 at that level i get what i can only say is like a kick in the tummy.

4.3 seems to be my trigger point and i will begin to feel a bit vague and shakey.

Below that and i am hopeless, with slightly slurred speech, inability to make a decision and for some strange reason, reluctant to eat or drink!

But it's such an individual thing and what feels low, is low. The one thing to bear in mind though is that if your body is regularly running 'high' then any significant drop will make you feel you're too low.

By gradual better control and more consistent lower numbers, your body becomes retuned and you'll find that a low is in fact, quite low!

As with everything...your/our mantra is "Test regularly; learn your averages; love your meter!"
