Is a spike of 12.5 for a short period ok?

Way to go @Scott-C , 40 years here and sometimes there's no second guessing it. Correct and move on, there are more things to do than sit worrying.

So true. I think it was easier when we were dx'd all those years ago: keep generally in range, don't sweat it too much about excursions.

Nowadays, there's everyone and their auntie shouting about how you'll die if you don't keto.

I over-bolused a bit on my main meal today, but it wasn't anything a Tunnocks Caramel Wafer didn't sort out.

I think also possibly because the testing is sooo accurate now, and it just wasn't available then. We would never have known if we were 12.5...
Lurrv tunnocks; especially teacakes

I'm not an expert and I'm sure others will be able to give better guidance, but my BG would spike like that if I ate 50g of carbs at a single sitting. I aim to keep my carbs under 30g a day. We are all different of course.
But unless you are on insulin you are not comparing like with like.

@Scott-C I'm sorry to derail this thread but I was drawn to the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer comment. Do you know whether they are anything like the original Gray Dunn, Hampden Wafers?

Tunnocks Caramel Wafer

November 2014: Become aware of the existence of Tunnock's Caramel Wafer. Fall in love.
September 2017: Become unable to eat Tunnock's Caramel Wafer.

(Yes you can now get them at Woolworths but I didn't know.)

Not sure. A quick googles shows they were made in Glasgow just down the road from me but they're not ringing any bells - a bit of Scottish culture I must have missed!

Hmm, they're quite good for stopping a slow slide hypo so they're not necessarily out of the game.
