On the 25th August I posted the original thread because as I could not quite believe that this government of ours was lifting all mandatory restrictions as the third wave (delta) was coming under control. I of course had been one of those unlucky enough to be advised that I needed to continue wearing a mask and be aware of taking the virus back to our house, as the wife and Fil, are both disabled and susceptible to pneumonia.
So just a couple of months later, a new variant, (omicron) has arrived on our shores, never mind that an average of 40,000 a day tested positive for delta, and close to 1000 a week died, associated with having the virus. The hospitals are full again, getting an ambulance is ridiculous, a doctors appointment or a hospital out-patient appointment, the waiting list for specialists, the surgical departments waiting lists, are getting longer, the numbers of vacancies, doctors, nurses, ancillary staff, in surgeries, clinics, maternity, paramedics and of course carers in hospice, hospitals and care homes are drastically short staffed.
The promise of more staff, has not materialised, because of the burn out of staff having to cope with the past decade of cuts, and then covid. Just as these heroes were hoping for a better year in 2022, not Christmas! This new variant comes along in Santa's sleigh!
For once, the government has reintroduced certain restrictions but to protect my lot, I certainly believe it's not enough (again) to control the spread of the new variant.
This government are still not listening to the experts, they still believe that the vaccine rollout is enough to stem the incoming tide, I have to believe that Boris doesn't think he is King C'nut, trying to stem the tide of covid waves.
All over Europe, countries are considering the best way to cope and of course lockdown is an option. A question if I may?
When is a lockdown not a lockdown?
In the UK!
With the need for food, trade, economy, and every other items export and import, with every front line worker, the true story is not about the virus but with the economy!
We hear that this government is reluctant to have restrictions, but why don't they tell the truth about the agenda of making these decisions.
There is a belief now of the health service we know, is being changed under our noses, the deliberate dismantling of how health care is under threat from private and health insurance companies. The recent bill passed by parliament, proves this, the decision making process at local level health care is being taken out of the present set up, and introduce outside of the NHS, so called advisors from the health insurance industry.
Don't forget, the controversy surrounding the contracts allocation to the private sector and the lack of certain necessary requirements for this time of year again without the covid complications. In other words typically the old school network of one rule etc.

This disturbs me greatly.

Immigration.
The latest reports over the weekend about the knee-jerk reaction to the loss of life in the channel. The farce of both leading government ministers on both sides of the channel trying to blame each other for the tragedy. Because of the influx of refugees wanting to come to the UK, that is a part of an international law. They can come here, they are not illegal. Like most of the propaganda, we now hear, our government want to change this international law to force these refugees back to France, and they will not be able to claim asylum.
So much of being a Christian country, so much of being a multi cultural society and also criticised the former president over the wall and refugees from central America.
Whilst this was being planned by Dom Raab. There is a policy debate in Westminster hall going on about the disturbing rise in islamaphobia, racism and education. The majority of refugees are Muslims. And because of the history of our empire, we are beholden to many religions and cultures. On every government form, one of the first questions is about race and colour!
Why?
In the past two months, thousands of Afghan refugees have been granted asylum in countries all over the world. But, we had one of the smallest group of refugees, we actually put a limit on how and when, never mind how many!
This government has already broken the law is in this country, made some up, and are now trashing others including the sleaze, the death toll and constant mismanagement of running the country. There are now calls from noted reporters and over the weekend from Tory party asking for a change in leadership. Along with rumours of a falling out with MPs and within the parliamentary party. Heads are gonna roll.
Don't forget, Boris has already got rid of quite a few MPs, for voting against him, a couple of years ago, he is using the government whip to ensure getting through policies that even Tory MPs are not comfortable with. Never thought that I would see that!
Add to all this, the latest polls, concerning the same question over two years ago, that the percentage number of pollsters was in the sixties to come out of Europe. The latest published this morning asking the same group and same numbers, when asked about brexit, only 20 percent agreed with the question of brexit.
Wow!
Even prominent brexiteers, are saying, this is not what they signed up for!
And, worst of all, the utter incompetence and laziness, and being shown up for what they are, including the number of commentators that are getting concerned about the PMs agenda. He is known in inner cabinet circles, he likes being referred to as either Boss or King Boris!
And, somehow there are rumours and distinct reports of wanting to be more of a political junta, so, that he can rule without opposition and make this country a place where your financial status, has an effect of life choices.
I'm not giving it credence, but there is a definite effort to widen the gulf between the very, very rich, multinational corporations and the city, at the same time taxing those who can least afford it, with the cost of living, the price hikes, and ignoring the caps on such energy costs, with gas, electric, petrol and electric cars, also the cost of being green. Finally inflation, and while it's all happening the bankers, whom we all bailed out in 2008/09, have had a nice bonus. To hell with nurses, as long as the bankers are happy.
Do you actually think that the Bank of England could hold the rate of interest, this low, if a different party was in power?
Do you want to believe that the Boss wouldn't do it? He would never confess to this, but he has lied so many times, you just wouldn't know and it would definitely not be his fault!

Meanwhile on the other side of the commons, the leader of the opposition, who is a knight of the realm, is again, not powerful enough at bringing the right pressure on the PM, to gain support enough to counter the obvious difficulties in gaining power. The boundary commission has been at it again. They still want to reduce the number of MPs elected to parliament by fifty. This would mean bigger constituencies and we would have more rural constituencies and less city MPs as the boundaries between two city MPs would be merged into one.
In my local area, thirty years ago, there was three Tory seats, two Labour seats. Over the years as my area became because of many reasons mainly the total lack of government support, all Labour seats. One of those seats is mostly rural and contains a few villages which have desirable properties, but was intentionally joined by a council estate because it would split the Labour vote. And the Tories would gain four out of the five seats. Of course it didn't go to plan. The new constitutional boundaries changes would expand the safe labour seat with the council estate previously mentioned, that would give the Tories the chance to reclaim the more prosperous seat, because it would be added by another area, that is more residential, and more likely to be Tory voters.
So instead of five Labour seats, it would be one Tory and three Labour seats, Tory gain - one,
Labour lose - two.
And if that happens around the country with the prominence of the Scottish and Welsh nationals, Northern Ireland parties, independent seats, lib dems, green party. The Tories could have a majority of twenty, with less than thirty percent of the popular vote.
Labour in England alone, would have more popular votes, but less than half the seats.

I was impressed with the Scottish leader today, despite their agenda, if I had a choice or a chance to go anywhere to live in the British Isles, it would be Scotland.

We are doomed!
