Hi - daft question time. Anyone got experience of not getting too much sleep having impact on their waking levels? I've been so focused on diet that I've not considered this much, but my levels are a wee tiny bit up and that's the only thing I can think of. Anybody? Also, feel free to say "OMG of course it does, you tube!"

I've wondered exactly the same - and don't know the answer. My highest readings of the day are the first ones, so I'm focusing on monitoring them above all else at present. I've had years of sleeping badly, spending much of the night wide awake - though I also have periods when I sleep well. So far, I've honestly not been able to see any relationship between the quality of the night's sleep and my first reading when I get up. It'll be helpful to hear what other people know.

:D:D:D

Seriously though, I think stress has the biggest impact on my morning BG. Greater than food the night before. Greater than wake up time. Greater than...

I have problems sleeping (occasionally) from stress, and from caffeine. Both have significant knock on effects on my morning bg levels.

I dont notice any difference to be honest. Last night I didnt get any sleep at all but my FBG was 6.0 which was lower than all of last week barr one but then again I have always had sleep issues. If lack of sleep is new to you it may have an effect though.

Ucht! See I was starting to think it was maybe lack of sleep..and then 4 ratbags chuck in the spanner! ;)

That's certainly been my experience @pleinster cortisol is released when we don't get enough sleep and one of it's functions is to lay down fat I believe
