Hi
@Suki1968 and welcome to the forum.
I'm afraid that it seems nobody with experience of Hypos was willing to respond to your post.
Here is what I have heard in the diabetes forums I read plus online investigation (not from personal experience):
All consumer BG Monitors legally must conform to the same standard which is that 95% of each model must be accurate to +- 15% at certain reference points.
However although generally more accurate at very low BG levels than are CGM's, even BG monitors tend to be much less accurate at low BG levels than they are in the mid range.
I do understand that accuracy down at these low levels is of particular importance to you, but unfortunately that's just how things are.
From this isolated case it's impossible to give a verdict on your Contour., except to say that it seems probable that in this instance the combination of specific test strip in that meter with that blood drop gave a lower reading than it should have. But remember that even 3.9 is still in hypo territory and it is possible that the other test strip & Meter combination was giving a reading allowably higher than the true BG level at that time.
I know how frustrating this is. It's even frustrating to me when I have to allow for such a large margin of error within the medium range.
I hope this helps,
Ian
