I don't know. But it's 100 per cent in my case. < 9 st now. What percentages did you say it worked out at?
Probably not a meaningful statistic for them in that case. They're probably using the official statistics, which are around 85 to 90% of type 2 are overweight. So not exactly a stereotype, more of a fact in that context.I don't know. But it's 100 per cent in my case. < 9 st now.
Yes but the media does tend to ignore the others. I understand peoples' frustration in that case.Probably not a meaningful statistic for them in that case. but if we ha meters, we could self test and get control, and it would be cheaper in the long run?One statistic that did pop up however, was that 500 new diabetics are diagnosed daily. That's about 15,000 every month. Small wonder then that the NHS are a bit reluctant to give out BG meters.
We dont know - so why tar them all with the same brush? It would be simple to give people the meter and strips for a month, for example, and then review it, and ask for the meter back if they dont use it properly. Knowing the meter is on loan would stop these people selling them. How many of them do that anyway? I suspect it is only a few, or the market would be flooded. I know the meters couldnt be given to someone else, but it would stop the trafficking. Dont meter have some sort of notification or record on them of whether or not they have been used, and the figures? I am sure my dads meter did. What percentage of the 15,000 would correctly use the meter, make the lifestyle changes, and continue with the new lifestyle, as opposed to the percentage who simply sell the meter, and the strips, on ebay?
I think you would be surprised at just how many would like good eating advice (not the nice guidelines) and get a meter and strips.

Please don't make assumptions about me .. you don't know me or any of my personal experiences. If you think the eat well plate loaded with carbs is good for a T2 diabetes then you go for it. Personally the sooner the gov and Drs stop rolling out the eat more carbs advice for T2 diabetics the better.I think you'd be more than surprised how the nice guidelines would improve many people's diets.
You really need to be out with those below the breadline, in third world countries, to appreciate how much of an improvement the nice guidelines are.
Then you need to get into the poorer areas of the UK, and see the habits formed, from necessity, and realise what a vast step up the nice guidelines are.
The abyss between the fortunate, and the not so fortunate is vaste.
Everywhere.
