Is the world heading for an insulin shortage?

If there is a shortage of insulin, a dramatic increase in the amount we must pay to purchase it will likely make more available. Either that or the low-carb option will be the only way to go.

The endocrinologist who gave a talk "Diabetes Overview" which I went to the other night reckoned 1 in 3 type IIs take insulin. I did spend a little while trying to find some evidence with some evidence but can't find any yet. He also said that most type IIs will end up on insulin within 10 to 20 years.

I think a quite a few type 2's are hoping it's wrong about the progression of type 2 = Insulin, that's what I get from some of the posts I have read on here.

Availability is not just about how much of something is around it's also about if you can afford it. There could be a mountain of it but if you do not have the means to purchase it then it is not available to you.
