Hi Friends

i think this is a silly thing to mention but i dont have anyone else to ask,

over the last 2 weeks i have noticed my left knee hurting usually in bed, but as i type its really aching, the other day i got out of bed and not only my knee but same side hip was really hurting, then later that day the ankle too

also on the otherside the muscle at the back of my right thigh feels like its been cramped and aches like a cramp does,
i feel a blooming wreck :?
there is nothing i can think of thats caused any of this...the only other thing that has accured is that my period started and stopped on tuesday....i am 50. so it could all be down to the run up to the change (sorry fellas)
the GP mention me gping onto a statin....good job i'm not on it otherwise that would have got the blame!!

i keep puting of excersice because of this in fear of making what ever it is worse!!

i am doubting that it has anything to do with type2 diabetes, but thought i would ask?

thanks so much xx

I remember my mum (who is not diabetic) getting loads of cramps like you describe, just as she went into the change (she was in her late fifties by then but I think she was a late developer!)
hope the vet, sorry, GP is able to help.

Sometimes if I ache a bit of light exercise helps stretch and stimulate the area. That's just me though, I know my body and whether a pain feels serious or not. If it's safe to do so I wouldn't delay your exercise as my own belief is that the fitter you are the better equipped to deal with things you are. But if it's too painful then the doc it is so you can get better, then start!

snodger and gappy, thanx for your advice,

snodger i've put off the vets for now lol,

been to my dads and cleaned for him, aand it doesnt seem as bad, i think i will go on the treadmill, like you say gappy i need to keep healthy xxx

If you are having bad muscle pain and you take Metformin or a sulfonylurea drug for diabetes you might see your doctor ASAP. Sounds like muscle inflamation and best thing for that (other than a great hot stone massage) might be omega 3 and/or magnesium. Calcium makes our muscles contract, magnesium makes them relax. If your calcium gets too high and your magnesium too low, this can cause muscle and joint pain. I take prescription Lovaza and it should be pretty pure and hopefully mercury free. Flax seed oil is good and has much fiber. Also, Cannabis seed mylks are really good for inflammation as they are high in omega 3 and GLA.

thanx very much Rob for that info,

i dont take meds, diet only for now, maybe its the change of diet? or because i am a woman and hormones!!!?
