is this a spike?

are these figures considered a spike....pre breakfast 5.8.....2 hours after breakfast 7.2
 
It depends on what you consider a spike I guess :)
In general, a rise of more than 2 after a meal is considered a "spike".

Personally, though, I try and keep my 2 hour increase below 1. What did you eat for breakfast?

two slice of toasted wholemeal bread with two boiled eggs and tea with milk
 
That's not too bad at all then for the amount of carbs you had

Try one slice and test .... bread (as many say here) can be murder .... and yes, I know, i once LOVED toast.

A rise of 1.4 is perfectly acceptable. I expect a rise of 2 after my meals cos I still eat carbs. Even non diabetics get spikes, it's perfectly normal. In fact as far as I'm concerned, I don't view it as a spike, just normal, a spike to me is a rise of 4 or more.

I would say no but if you're unsure whether it's on it's say up or down test after 3 hours as well.
