Hope the image posts! Its Agave nectar. Is it suitable?TIA

Thanks. a friend used it in a cake. She is on a low GI diet and said it was ok for me as her mum uses it who is diabetic, but i wasnt convinced!!

It has about 4 carbs a teaspoon so the same as sugar but as stated low GI so slower to raise blood sugars. It's expensive and not worth the money or that helpful for anyone with diabetes.

Agave nectar, isn't that almost pure fructose? If so it won't raise bg much but it damages your liver.

It's simply a different form of sugar. It's not per se loaded with sugar - it is sugar.

Hi. If you look at Wikipedia you will find it is over 50% fructose; even worse than sucrose. Some might say this product is poison from both the glucose and the high fructose which the body can't metabolise like glucose and the liver has to store it as fat. Tastes nice but no good for anyone?

I think the idea is that since it's mostly fructose it is sweeter than regular sugar so you use less of it than table sugar to get the same level of sweetness. However, I avoid fructose so I wouldn't eat that stuff.
