My 11 yrs old grand daughter has just been diagnosed and has been a shock to us all. I'm T2 and I've been successful in bringing my nos down into the 'normal' range by diet and weight loss. Forgive my ignorance but can T1 condition go into remission by stimulating insulin production?

@les74 Type 1 is an auto immune disease where the body's own immune system attacks and kills the insulin producing cells in the body. There is currently no cure sadly.

Sorry to hear about your granddaughter. Could she or her parents join here? In the meantime, they might want to look at the books Think Like A Pancreas and Type 1 Diabetes in Children and Young Adults.

Can imagine it came as quite a shock @les74

The first few months are by far the hardest and I'm sure they'll be a few up & downs, but type 1 need not stop her from living a long and active life so don't you or her parents despair.

Best wishes and good luck.
