Islet antibodies

What does a positive result on test for islet antibodies mean? Does it mean anything without the GAD test result? Still waiting for that test result to be confirmed.
 
is a GAD test not the test for antibodies?

if antibodies have been identified then it means your immune system has identified the beta cells as harmful and will attempt to destroy them.........

think this means type 1 or LADA...........:(
 
They've done 3 antibody tests, so far I know it's positive for islet antibodies but don't have the numbers for the GAD and the other one, but being a bit impatient! Should know on Friday but like I said I'm impatient and would like a definite diagnosis. Already started insulin therapy so guess the treatment won't change but I would still like to know!
 
Thank you :) will be over 3 weeks on Friday since they did the blood test so fingers crossed the results are back :)
