Issues with Optium Xceed Meter

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone else has being having issues recently with the Optium Xceed meter from Abbott?

In November I went to visit my brother and we went out for a walk. It was cold (-2/-3C) and afterwards my meter acted funny. I put in a test strip, it took the blood and counted down but instead of giving the reading the meter turned off. I figured it must have been affected by the cold and finally got it working by about the 6th test strip although the battery symbol was always on.

Once I got back home I had no more issues except the battery symbol popping up now and then. Then one morning the test strips didnt work again and after that conked out all together.

The dr gave me a new meter, Optium Xceed again, the same day. It's an old one and an ex demo (I assume) as the battery needed replacing.

Tonight the same thing happened again, test strip in, takes blood and counts down but turns off before giving results. It has taken me four strips to get a reading, my strips expire next year so it's not that.

The battery symbol is back as well but only when you put the test strip in, not when you go through the log book?

I checked the manual but no info. Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Nomi

Not had that problem, though today had a reading of 4.9 with the meter and test strips being cold, thought it was low as on the main meter another xceed was nearly 8.0 a short while before, retested again within a couple of mins and it was 3.9. I let the meter warm up and it was back up to 5.0.
