It suddenly dawned on me...

That is actually genius!!! :joyful::joyful:

I understand their wanting to reduce the amount of wastage with regards to meds, and I'm all to aware of how expensive drugs are....but at the same time, if they give us free reign by allowing us to test as much as we like (which in my opinion is not a bad thing anyway!) then we're less likely to have the hypos which may require an ambulance and/or a glucagon shot!?
And the costs of Ambulance dealt with severe hypos in the UK are astonishing.

That is truly shocking. I'm blown away by that! See, I've always felt incredibly guilty whenever I've had a hypo which was bad enough to need ambulance assistance, but to now see the cost in black & white really is astonishing!
Maybe I should take that in to my GP along with the letter!

Ooh thanks for that! Usually I am very good and do what you do - order when I open my last pack - but I dropped the ball this time.

I'm going to take @noblehead 's letter into the doctors with my in a bid to get my repeat prescription allowance upped. Well, I say repeat - it's actually on acute. Apparently they won't put it on repeat because they're "monitoring" my usage...!

@zoze_j, a few years back my own gp tried to say that I was testing too many times a day and I didn't need to test more than 4 times, despite explaining to him why I needed to test 6-8 times a day he was adamant he was right, so I left it at that and spoke with my Endo at my next appointment which was the following week.

The Endo said that I was right and test strips should not be restricted and said they would write to my gp accordingly, after that my gp never mentioned it again, so if stuck get your hospital team to back you up. Good luck.

Yes, I think I'm definitely going to invest in one, my "in case of emergency break glass" meter so to speak!!
Bear in mind that they have an expiry date - up to 12 months usually, and once you use the first test you have to use the rest within 90 days or they expire.

I will definitely do that, thank you! :)

It's so frustrating how picky they are about something we need to like, you know, stay alive!!
