itching all over

Ally .
Did you work out what was cause of your increased itching ?
The extra metformin ? Any BG spikes ?
Any links to it all ?

I itch only when my BG levels climb upwards .
Sure sign with itchiness myself - am heading over a 12 .

Sometimes the body has warning signs matched to our spiked
BG levels going out of range .
It helpful of knowing or recognising them , then treating the rises with respect
meds or insulin .
Excessive itching or needing the toilet frequently or thirstiness or achey joints/bones
can be indicators of out of range BG levels .

i think it was the increase in metformim
It lessening now ?
Your body must be tolerating the increased dosage better now .

These side effects can be annoying - especially when we have enough
to be dealing with :banghead:

Ahhh I was just going to write a post but I saw this one, I have been suffering from itching like never before for the last few days. I can't sleep properly with it I feel arghhhhhhhhhh hope it stops soon. Mostly in my feet and forearms but where it is itchy it feels numb too like the itching is inside if that makes any sense. Any suggestions???

are you on metformin as that can cause itching
i found e45 helps

NO I couldn't tolerate Metformin, on Bydureon injections and GLiclazide, but itching has been also before the Glic.

I am not on meds but I do get severe itching from time to time. But I do get allergies so have a supply of Pirriton on hand.

anna, the itching is getting less
Hi Allie .
Am glad the itching has eased for you .
It isn't pleasant at all - kind of sets the nervous system
frazzled ends !

My doc suggested piriton ages ago to me .
Found it just zonked me out .
So gave it a wide berth - worked hard to get my
BG levels down instead .

Ive had itiching now for a good 3 to 4 weeks. For a start i thought it was washing powder as one of our carers took some washing home with her and thats roughly when my itching started so i asked her what powder she uses as i thought it was powder allergy as im allergic to Ariel powder. It wasnt Ariel she uses.Ive tried Eurax and E45 none have worked as yet.Im gunna bring it up when i see my GP on 27th October.Funny thing is im not on Metformin or any other diabetic meds or insulin like some people on this post are so i cant blame that. Not changed any other meds either or our washing powder nor has my diet changed much in the last 4 weeks.Very strange.

I had such bad itching, especially on my shins and ankles that i sometimes made myself bleed. It was worse when i got too warm ie in bed or even when the heater in the car was on. I was taken off Metformin years ago so it wasn't that. I think it was when my sugars were on the high side. Best wishes and hope things improve.
