Not being able to eat what I want
hi I'm chris, I've been diagnosed with type 1, (they think) 2 weeks ago, up to that point I'd seen my doctor only a hand full of times, so it really is all new to me.
I think I'm coping ok with injecting and testing, I've struggled more with not being able to eat what I want.
My experience with the diabetic care team in the hospital and the after care was excellent, even when I left hospital I never felt on my own.
I've had a good look round the forum and it's very informative, so i thought I'd come along for the ride.

Hi Chris -- Its all new to me too pal but you're in the right place for any help you need

Hi Chris, good to see you.

As far as not being able to eat what you want, (and I don't want to be seen as advocating any particular course of action) I know a couple of people out here in the real world who eat whatever they want whenever they want. They've just become experts at judging their insulin needs at any given time. Others on this forum manage by cutting carb intake down to negligible levels, and there are people like me who have just reduced carb intake. I still eat 'bad' stuff only smaller portions, and I'm much more aware of what i'm eating since I started reading food labels.

You'll have to discover what works best for you over the coming weeks and months. Good luck and have fun!

Hello and welcome to the forum. It can be scary and an anxious time at first, but jump on board, as this is a great site for helpful advice and support. ps In time it will get a little easier.

Take care RRB:)
