Its not all just about the carbs

I follow a regime of around 30g carbs a day but over the years have also become aware that my BG response also varies with some v low carb count foods producing an unexpectedly strong BG rises and conversly some at the higher end producing an unexpectedly modest rise, if any
Im on hols at the mo and am enjoying experimenting in the sun with a) different grains and b) resistant starch concepts
a) Yesterday 6 of these https://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Peters-Yard-Pink-Peppercorn-Sourdough-Crispbread/330209011 with goats cheese produced significant decreases in Bg at 1,2 & 3 hours post prandial - unexpected but v welcome result for 16g carbs - The same from wheat bread / crackers and cheese would have been a 4 point increase. I think the sourdough and non wheat flour make a difference
b) today 1/2 pkt of this https://www.tilda.com/our-range/steamed-basmati-rice/brown-basmati-quinoa/ fried with olive oil, mushrooms and courgette to make egg fried rice saw slight (0.2-0.4 mmol) drops of Bg at 1&2 hours, 3hr test pending. 30g of carbs in one meal would generally send my sugars stratospheric. I can only see the resistant starch issue from using pre cooked ricee makes the difference, unless of course my BG’s are on holiday too

Edit - 3hr results are in - 0.3mmol increase over the pre prandial reading

That all sounds good to me!

I fail to understand ANYTHING about blood sugars. The other day I had a light meal of a tin of red salmon (105g salmon) with 6 small cherry toms, a sprinkle of flaxseed, a dollop of mayo and half a slice of burgen bread and butter (6g carbs in the bread) with a cup of tea. My Libre showed me I had 2 distinct peaks after this meal. One at the hour mark, which was pretty bad for the amount of carbs, then a drop to below my starting level at around 90 minutes that lasted for 28 minutes, then another rise and peak at around the 2 hour mark that lasted another 2 and a half hours. No exercise or any activities during this period. I was watching TV.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday. The weather is Baltic here. :)

Wheat any wheat products do unmentionable to my BG. No amount is safe for me, even a crumb.

Just when I think I've got it sussed I get served a curve ball.
Lol That's diabetes forte - lulls us into a false senSe of security then bamm here come the curve balls - I just wait for them to appear nowadays and begin to feel a tad unnerved if I haven't had any for some time
