I have OCD (Obsessive–compulsive disorder, a mental disorder where people feel the need to check things repeatedly, perform certain routines repeatedly (called "rituals"), or have certain thoughts repeatedly (called "obsessions"). I avoid newspaper headlines because of the constant deluge of inaccurate reporting which I have to check out. There should be a law against it. Sadly, MIL came round with her rotten Sunday Express.

I feel better now, I sent a very polite eMail to Kate Whitfield, the person who wrote the piece. She may not read it, and if she does, she probably won't reply. But I have pointed out the error of her ways.

Ha! Well done you. I too get a bit bent out of shape with inaccurate reporting. Either say nothing, or get it right. Oh yes and please try to get spelling and punctuation right (BBC News take note on both)
OCD unfortunate and I have a couple of colleagues who suffer terribly. One in particular has a cleaning obsession which means showering and getting ready for work can take 4 hours of ritualistic cleaning.
On my own part I do find that I work better and I am more comfortable with ritual and process possibly more so than many around me. And I have several obsessions such as closed drawers, doors etc. Open plan living horrifies me!
Im not sure how you can grade (if at all) OCD?
I don't feel any need to live under a 'label'. but again if I know what to expect I can develop a plan.....there I go again!!

I've done the odd black tie do, from time to time. & quite happily let the pen & meter ruin the line of my rather natty tux.. The first thing i look for in a formal jacket is non "fake pockets." But i would call that a "practicality," not an obsession... :D

"Tonight, the patch will monitor her blood sugar while she dines on a traditional British dinner of Scottish salmon, Hereford beef fillet and strawberries with clotted cream ice-cream."

Reasonable pickings on the menu.. Personally i'd give the icecream a miss. ;)

For me, seeing the Express as a comic rather than a paper helps enormously - I expect no journalistic skill and I’m never dissapointed!
