I've been having lots of tummy problems with metformin so the GP has prescribed slow release metformin are these better?

For me no.. made regular diarrhoea into constipation followed by explosive diarrhoea.. but each to their own..
 
They should be much better because the slow release will be kinder to your system, but some people just can't cope with metformin at all.

But watch your carbs consumption as metformin and too many carbs don't always make for a good combination either.

Have you actually adjusted your diet by reducing the amount of carbs you eat? The more carbs the bigger the side affects tend to be.
 
Standard Metformin gave me bloating and indigestion now on the the slow release and they work for me no more bloating etc I take 500mg twice a day
