FOOTBALL. MY husband is a sports fanatic and watches everything. Most i can put up with just not football.
Hi, just letting you know that i had my operation for gallstones. I was due to have it on the 29th of feb but was taken in on the 22nd as an emergency.

2 days ago the gallstones was playing up bad so had ambulance to hospital. Pain unbearable as well as uncontrollable. Constantly being sick. Anti sickness and morphine not working much. about 4.30pm it settled down and i was taken off to a ward. Not long after, the docs done there rounds and said i could go home in the morning and to keep the appointment for the operation as planned. I couldn't believe it. This was the 4th time they were sending me home. I was on a drip because i couldn't eat or drink anything. I kept being sick. In the morning breakfast was being served and feeling better i felt really hungry. Breakfast was served to everyone apart from me. By this time i was feeling so sorry for myself i just wanted to cry. The doctors came around again and this time to my surprise they said i was having the op that afternoon. I dont know why they changed there minds by i did find out that my sugars went extremely high and they hadn't told me. I thought everything was fine. I ended up having to have a sliding scale for a while and that worked really well. Gallblader removed but still in a lot of pain. Blood sugar this morning 5.4 so a happy ending after all. I have also managed to get a doctor to listen to me and next week i will be tested for certain anti bodies as the psoriosis is part of a autoimmune disease and is spreading more over my body.

mistee71 - oh what a to do!! But at last the op is over and done with and hopefully you will now begin to feel better every day.
Make sure that you get plenty of rest and eat good food, let others spoil you with plenty of TLC. You wont feel like moving around a lot, but if you just can manage to keep those legs active (do that whilst sitting down or lying in bed), curl/uncurl toes to keep the blood flowing, VERY important after an operation.
All the best to you x x

You should feel better soon, Mistee - make sure you let everyone else look after you and enjoy it as much as you can.

Certainly toe-curl, as WhitbyJet suggests, and rotate ankles if you possibly can - or stretch feet down and then pull up again, it keeps your calf muscles pumping. My Day Surgery unit told me to wear compression stockings all the time, 24/7 for a week. They came off at 3 in the morning, second day - awful things  . So I did a lot of curling and rotating that week   .

Didn't get told to do anything when i left. Didn't even see the doctor. Nurse said i could go and off i went. I cant lift my legs though or move much yet. I have 4 holes over my tummy and moving those muscles are agony.

NOPE! Not even a paracetamol :(

Phone your GP NOW and ask for help. Someone should be able to drop a prescription off for you, or even post it, so you can get it filled asap. It's quite obvious you can't go for it yourself, so they should cut you a bit of slack.

Insist on talking to the doctor if the receptionist isn't helpful. Tell them how much pain you are in.

Co-codamol (over-the-counter dose) might help a bit, but I think you need something on prescription.

Thanks but I'm trying to tuff it out. Hubby and my normally rebelious teenager have been great. They have been tending to my every need and besides, while I've been in hospital i have been pumped so full of drugs espesially morphine I tend to get a bit constipatted and that is something i can defo could do without at the mo :shifty:

Hi Mistee

I had my gallbladder removed a couple of years ago, was kept in overnight because of my asthma and told I could go the next morning-a smartalec nurse even said I would be fine catching the bus home! Most compassionate.. :x

Anyway, don't know about you but I found the area at my belly button was the most painful. Ordinary painkillers taken regularly should help but because your muscles have been given a battering, expect it to be sore for a while.
I'm resilient (took myself off to the loo an hour after I came out of surgery) but make sure you don't overdo it.

I thought I was able to go to Sainburys two days after surgery-ouch and ouch a lot. :(

Loose clothes, regular analgesia, take it easy for at least a week and all should be well.

Take care xx
