Jabs

Hi all

I was wondering if anyone else had contacted their local MP and asked if Type 2 diabetics will be receiving another jab. It seems Type 2 diabetics are not at high risk yet on the ONS site it states diabetes remained the most common pre existing condition among Covid 19 deaths between Oct 2021 and Dec 2021. This was st 22.5%. It does seem like they review it every 2 weeks according to the letter I received.

Love to hear people's thoughts.

My understanding is the risk of hospitalisation is greater for Type 1.
However there are other risk factors such as weight and hba1c - not all people with diabetes are equal risk.
Rather than campaigning for another jab, I focus my energy on reducing the risk factors I can control.

Just because diabetes is the precondition that is present in the highest proportion doesn't mean that diabetics are at the highest risk. Diabetics are certainly at higher risk than non diabetics but their high place on the list is partly a reflection of just how common diabetes is, particularly among the oldest segment of the population, who are getting jabs anyway. (My T2 dad has just had his).
