Hi,

Can anyone tell me the difference between Januvia and Victoza. Asked to be prescribed Victoza but was given Januvia to try first.

Information about Januvia........an Oral medication.

http://www.ema.europa.eu/ema/index.jsp? ... icines.jsp

Januvia is taken at a dose of 100 mg once a day, with or without food. If Januvia is taken with a sulphonylurea or insulin, the dose of the sulphonylurea or insulin may need to be lowered to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels).

Information about Victoza from the European Medicines Agency.......injected once daily.

http://www.ema.europa.eu/ema/index.jsp? ... bled=false

Victoza is administered by the patient once a day by subcutaneous injection (under the skin) in the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. It is given independent of meals and preferably at the same time each day.
