Just a rant really...

Been diagnosed as T2 for around six weeks now, following LCHF and have lost nearly a stone! My bloods have been between 5-7 depending on the time and what food I've had etc.

Just been to the dentist (which I'm terrified of) and my bloods before were 6.8 and just as I sat in the chair I came across all shaky, sweating and like the room was spinning.. Checked bloods and they dropped to 4.. Just shows what stress can do.

Yet GPs and diabetic nurses still say to not test blood.. I'm sorry but I'd rather self fund than not know what was going on just then.

Luckily the dentist and dental nurse are lovely and helped me until I felt a little better, thank heavens I changed dentist not long ago.

Just wanted to have a little rant and this is the most open and best place to do that

Welcome , Jessica, coo your brave going to the dentistsounds like you have hit the ground running, there aren't many things that would send me hypo but i'm guessing you skipped breakfast? Happy you have got a good dentist now,and yes how else would we know what affected our bs unless we" monitor it,after my doc' refused me a meter and strips i self funded , and when he saw my hba1c six months later,from18.9 to 5.4 he relented and gave me strips on prescription, and said " whatever it is your doing, keep it up! But it wasn't anything the metformin did ,no, only the good advice and help i received here! Keep posting and let us know how your getting on,clive

Hi. Newish too (Oct 15 - type 2, exercise/metformin/diet - all working well. I stress out at dentists too - its the injection. I prefer to have fillings without the injection - I can't stand it. But back to topic - I test all the time - I want to see what each food does and how stress affects me - some unusual results - sometimes higher, sometimes lower than required. I've had to resort to jelly babies once or twice. Just let the dentist know your condition and they will keep an eye out for you. There are over 400,000 people on this forum - there's bound to be an experienced diabetic person on the staff at your dental practice anyway.

They know that I'm diabetic and they were very helpful and allow extra time for me with my appointments. I'm a wuss and I have to have the injection- I take my hat off to you! Same with testing, I test religiously so I know what I can/ can't have and what agrees with me etc. Well done and the diet and exercise etc
