would just like to say hi to everyone here and the team who is making a wonderfull job of this whole website

I have been diagnosed for two years now.
I take novomix 30 and metformin fs.
Normally 14u but just now taking upto 30u because I am loaded
with the flu
Anyway, Won't be long until the summer

I am just getting to grips about the whole diabetes thing and because my job is so erratic one day to the next(heavy lifting and buzzing about one day and the next not doing too much), it can be difficult really knowing what dosage I should be taking,Im sure I'm not alone
Anyway,
One thing is for sure, I love a wee glass or two of red wine in the evening before a walk (weather permitting lol)and have no problems with that.
Anyway Im babbling on sorry
So hi to everyone

hi there! a fellow imsomniac ?
I've been diagnosed now for 6yrs and just went with the flow really, recently had a wakeup call tho when I had my 2nd child.
Have been trying also to get to grips with things, to be more in control - (have started carb counting)- certainly agree with you bout the red wine!
Hope you feel better soon, (did you not have your flu jab)?

lol yeah I haven't been sleeping much lately, just wake suddenly!, for years a bomb wouldn't wake me lol.
I did have my first flu jab and thought i would be ok but it got me in the end:?
Never mind I am starting to feel a good bit better now, this week has been ugly though and feel people are looking at me strange, ive just had no energy and that horrible tingling and sicky tired way.
Just had your second child? It must be hard being pregnant with diabetes, if my wife had it i would worry night and day.
Congrats!
We have just had our first, Well he is 7 months now and the love of my life, everyone was starting to wonder as I have been with my wife for 15 years and married for 9! lol
So between work and baby theres lots to keep me busy:D and loving it.

Hi Stephen. Wellcome. I heard the flu jab wasn't the most effective one this year. Hope you are feeling better.

BTW I work in Greenock and going out for a curry at the Taj Mahal tonight. Sounds like your diabetes is like mine.

mixed insulins are only really any good for people who have very similar lifestyles each day, eating same amounts of foods at the sme times and same amount of activity. which doesn't sound like you.
it would be worth askign your doctor to change to a basal bolus system so that you can have flecibility and adjust your insulin to your day to day needs.

welcome to the site

Your local diabetic clinic at Inverclyde is very keen on the new synthetic insulins (basal/bolus regime). This is great if you have an erratic lifestyle.
