Lots of questions, maybe I’ve read too much stuff….

Had a blood test some weeks ago, result was 75, which I was told made me type 2 diabetic. There has been quite a gap of 3 weeks between the doctors receptionist telling me I needed to see the diabetic nurse and seeing her.

for those three weeks I tried to cut carbs, and sugar etc, and lost a few pounds, then told about the 75 result. Hoping to get a phone call from a doctor on July 12th. Repeat blood test in two more months.

Yesterday, I bought a glucose meter. Accu-check Instant, and tested 2 hours after lunch 7.0. First thing this morning 7.3, and this afternoon 7.2.
I don’t know when the best times are to test, so advice please on that one.

also is 7 a good, or bad, or average number?

or does it much depend on the individual?

Im now 11stone, and 5’ 4”….

Sorry I’m repeating myself. I’ll settle down, honest

HI and welcome.

Your HbA1c result of 75mmol/mol would imply an average blood glucose level of 11.7 mmol/l so your numbers are obviously reducing (which is a good thing)

Most of us who test regularly will take a reading just before starting a meal and then 2 hours after first bit to see the impact of what we eat on blood sugar levels.
I also take a first thing in the morning reading too.

7 is much better than 11 but not so good as 5.
However as you have just started your journey then you have a lot of time to get your numbers even lower.

Sounds like you have made a great start so keep it up!
