Hi & welcome,
Are you losing weight as a result in the change in your eating habits or is it that your glucose levels too high?
There is a wealth of help on here just keep asking questions.

Hi jim,

I was diagnosed type two in January so still very new to all this. I would really recommend reading through the pinned notices by the board monitors at the top of the board.

You will find it a lot easier to understand what is going on with you if you know stuff like blood results, BP etc so get into the way of asking for, and writing down blood test results.

Have you seen this site for us Scotland based diabetics?

http://www.mydiabetesmyway.scot.nhs.uk/default.asp

Read the boards, think about what puzzles you and come back and ask questions :)

That is way too high. I was 25 when I was diagnosed and they debated whether I should be sent straight to hospital to get sorted. Not surprised you are losing weight as you will probably have keytones (your body is eating your fat as a basic explanation).
You need to get that much lower as quick as possible, I would speak to a doctor asap.

Hi macj and welcome to the forum :) I agree you need to see a Doctor as soon as possible. When you have seen the doctor and got your levels down a bit I think you would find some general information on diabetes in general and on diet in particular to be useful. It is not just sugar that you need to cut out but you also need to reduce your total carb intake. This information may be slightly different from what you have been told up to now but it's what we believe is the best way to achieve better BG levels. Here is the link to the information prepared by the Forum Monitors:

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=17088#p155405

Have a good read around the forum and then ask as many questions as you like - someone will be pleased to help you.

going to doc on tues. had blood taken last week so get results then. had blood taken DEC and Hacb/1 if that what it`s called was 9.2 doc said to monitor and do some exercise to lose weight now getting worried :( been on metoformin since 5th jan 2x500g don`t think this is enough.

Try to get your total carbohydrate comsumption per day really low (we are talking 30 / 40g a day) and see if that makes any difference. Stuff like bread, pasta, rice is no good to lower your levels initially, a little is ok once you get down.
I am on 2 x 500g of Metformin a day and it helps me. Initially I was on Gliclazide twice a day to help but have quit them now I have got my levels in normal range.
Hope you get sorted soon

I came to this forum with dismay that I had been suffering from diabetes. Is it the feeling that I was too anxious or suffering from diabetes. It's just that I too do not care to test and rely solely on a diet and I believe that food consumption will not cause diabetes. Is this a wrong attitude.
But if true that I had diabetes I would learn to live with him without having to burden
