Hi, I was told I was pre diabetic about 3 months ago. I was very shocked as others say they were, and immediately went on a strict diet in line with the advice I found online. I considered myself fit and healthy apart from a skin condition which appeared in January of 5his year and has been very difficult to live with.
I have been very strict to lower my weight s I was told that at 10 and a half stone I was overweight due to a fatty stomach. I have now lost that weight but am now underweight @ 9.5 stone. At 76 I am generally for and often do 10000 plus steps per day and swim twice a week. However I can’t seem to improve my numbers and remain average 6.5 despite being tough on myself through diet and exercise.
Anyone any advice please?

What was the strict diet you went on, i'll hazard a guess it is not as good for pre and diabetic people as you think.
Let us know what you eat on a regular basis, and we can give you some pointers that may help.
Nobody expects to get diabetes, until it's too late, you are in the happy position that, you have the chance to turn things around, before a formal diagnosis.

Hi @Ivor Paul Lewis and welcome to the forum.

Some things are a little unclear in your post, so I hope you don't mind me asking the following to clarify:
Which diet was it that you found online and where did you find it? Did it say it was for remission or control of Type 2 Diabetes?
How are you taking measurements of your Blood Glucose? Were you told to measure the average?

Some point to consider are:
What you eat (particularly carbohydrates = sugars and starches) and how much, affect your Blood Glucose much more than exercise does. There is a saying that you can't out-run a poor diet, - Well neither can you reduce either weight or Blood Glucose much by exercise alone, but you can by reducing carbs even without consciously reducing calories.

Here is a link to the information (written by a forum member) which set me on the path to T2 remission back in Spring 2019:
