Just diagnosed!

Either one (you can easily convert one to the other), but most people here use mmol/L.
 
What do you think my chances are of getting one from my doctor as I don't want to pay out for one to be given one when I se the dn

Just ask they can only say no' but some will if you are showing you are keen on getting things under control. Mine does but I only get 100 strips every 4 weeks but it enough as can always buy an extra pot if needs be.
