Just for Fun. DSN or test strips?

There isn't a formal training curriculum either so some may be very well qualified, others much less so. There is a framework of competences, not sure of it's official standing.

This is the crux of the matter isn't it? Between this and the other thread about DSN's
It becomes very apparent that there is no one definition of a DSN in the local Practice.

As so much is now entrusted to them - GP's often washing thie hands of any responsibility
for diabetes management and the hospitals referring patients back to their local practices then
there obcviously needs to be some standardisation.
It is no wonder that patients lack confidence in these nurses and it is most unfair to the nurses themselves if they are required to assume responsibilities which used to belong o the GP withoout the proper training.

Many patients and nurses are being sold short. I am very surprised that the whole business has not been challenged by someone somewhere. The Nursing Unions perhaps?
