hya kess and welcome,
im type 1 but would suggest you cut out sugars and starches, potatoes, pasta, pizza, cereals, bread sugar, biscuits, cakes etc, also test your blood sugar before and after meals and it will show what foods effect u badly ,the above foods are the main culprits also the tiredness should fade when u get your blood sugar under control,
hope that helps

iv been t2 for 1 year now dont realy know hat im doing but eat brown bread now poridge for breaky only drink diet lemonade or water.cut out all suger in tea and just stay away from suger thing as mutch as poss and try to eat regular alway have breaky evern if late for work never use to have breakfast till t2 .i try and be stricked with my drinks as i strugle with my food to be good had a lapse tonight 1 pack of jaffa cakes in 30 mins but been good for last 6 mounths i use to scoff packets of them or sweets but ican have one and put the rest back now 1 pack norm last me 2 weeks or more ie a pack of rich tea the doc say im doing very good so it working for me at the mo take care
I also found that cutting right down on starchy carbohydrates like potatoes, rice, porridge, pasta and bread helped to get the BG levels down. I was eventually given a meter by the nurse at the hospital diabetic clinic which enabled me to see how foods affected my levels and with that knowledge I cut out those things which were not helping me.
It is really important to self-test before eating and 2 hours afterwards. Once you get the numbers down you should feel less tired. 8)

Hi Kess
Welcome to the forum. Everybody is really helpful here but there are people following a range of different diet regimens so you will need to try to determine which one is for you.
The advice you may get from your health practitioners will probably be to follow a healthy eating plan with loads of wholemeal bread rice etc. However, many of us here find that these push our blood sugar levels up after meals to unacceptably high levels because we test regularly. (often buying our own test strips and meters, from Boots of another pharmacy). So we have a adopted a reduced carbohydrate diet (low carb for short). This is the one with the no bread, pasta or rice rules. A bit like an Atkins diet if you have heard of that. There is a special forum here for low carb diets if you are interested. But you can start by reducing carbs gradually and find what works for you. Testing before and after meals to see what happens.
