As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I phoned my DSN at the hospital and within a week or two was seeing a whole team of people - midwife, DSN, consultants, etc. Diabetic pregnancies are classified as high risk (nothing to worry about - it just means extra care <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite1" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":)" /> ) so you have extra scans and see a team specialising in diabetic pregnancies.
