Hey,

Im new to this site and I think it's great so far.

Firstly let me introduce myself - I am Nicola, 26 and Type 1 diabetic for 10 years. I was diagnosed two weeks after being diagnosed with another long term illness. Both illnesses play off each other which cause regular high BG. Doctors cannot understand how I haven't had any long term damage. My HBA1c isn't great but it's the best it's been for me. I may inject/correct up to 10-12 times a day. It can be frustrating and impacts on my life more than it should. So to help give better control we are trying the pump.

I've a question for females wearing a pump - how do you wear tights/skinny jeans if you have the connection to your leg? Or even your tummy.

How do you sleep with the pump - where do you put it?

Prob sound like silly questions but I need to ask someone.

Any help would be great.
Thanks
Nicola

Iam a man but from what I have read the bra is a good place

I put the canuular in above the waist band and hang it off pockets or skirt waistbands. I've tried the bra when wearing a dress but it's embarrassing if it alarms / vibrates and a pain to reach.
Of a night I hang it off my neck line in bed. I wear a vest.

I put mine in a childs sock and shove it in my bra. It's not noticeable at all, I can forget about it. I have it on vibrate only. But I only ever wear trousers and tops so I can get to it easily down my top and also I think you have to have the right kind of bra. At night I just clip to the front of my pyjama bottoms. When doing exercise I put it in a waist belt but you can see this through my t-shirt.

I use the lycra stretch crop top type bras to hold my Vibe pump ok in the centre. The Combo pump was held in the bra cup slightly diagonal and didn't show at all under clothes.
I also swear by the STV brand of higher waist lycra knickers and can also put my Vibe and Combo in the waistband area and that's fairly good. The Combo was held ok using a baby sock with the rubber grips on the sole and the Vibe is ok in an Expert/Combo bg meter skin with a larger hole cut to allow the pump tube. The Vibe skins are ok but a bit bulky whereas the Expert Combo skins are thinner.

I never believe paying out a lot of money for stuff when you can get what you need more or less for nothing.
