- the word "serving" rather than "helping" on a diet sheet
Hi all,
Just joined the forum.
I am a pharmacist from Middlesbrough who was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis a few months ago..... given large dose steroids for an extended time and ended up with steroid induced diabetes (STEROIDS NOW STOPPED!!). Stopping didnt reverse the diabetes.
Have just (only 2 days ago) started Metformin MR 1000mg each evening and am now waiting for "steady state" and hoping that it works.
fasting BG 8.7 (was only 5 before the steroids were started 4 weeks ago) and peaks after any meal at 18. mega sore mouth, post prandial sweating and desperate thirst.
Metformin being tried for a month and then presumably insulin if no joy.
I hope I may be able to help others from my job perspective but hope I can get help from others who have real-life experience of diabetes and symptoms etc
regards to all
Andrew
