My fasting BS was 10. Pretty good for me considering I was in the ranges of 12-17mmol/L in the mornings over the last few days. I think I was lower today because I last ate at 5pm yesterday and didn't have anything else. Anyways, took my insulin and my Lantus as per usual, around 9:40am. Had breakfast, again the usual stuff. Went upstairs after I ate and lay on the bed to watch homes under the hammer
So when It finished, I had to go to the post office and collect a parcel and then head to the chemist to get more test strips. I got on the bike and cycled to the post office first, took it handy and cycled slow. Was there in 5 mins and collected my stuff. I had to head down to the chemist then, again cycled slow and was there in a few mins. Got some stick off your woman in the chemist for using so many strips...started saying to me "ohh you only got some last week" at this stage I was getting tired. I got me strips and walked into the newsagent next door to get some eggs and tuna for my lunch. On the cycle on the way home outta nowhere...BOOM! hypo! I could just about stay on the bike, I got home, pumping sweat and shattered. Done a BS test...2.4mmol/L was the result. I had kept a bottle of cherry coke in the cupboard in case of such an event, and quickly stumbled down the stairs to get it. Drank half the bottle in about two mouthfuls lol
Checked my bs level an hour later, was up to 10.1.
Tomorrow I'll see the nurse in the diabetes day care center. She will review my readings and make changes to my dosage. Hopefully I wont have anymore of those hypo's again.
