Hi all! I've been having a few issues over the past week or two, needing to basal test and tweak a few things. This hasn't went as planned due to the usual diabetes putting a spanner in the works, e.g a hypo puting a stop to the basal test etc but anyway today was the day I was going to sort it out. I was sitting nicely in the 4s all morning, pre bolused by 40mins for breakfast which was low carb (a fry) then I start to see my BS rising couldn't really understand it so watched for a little longer while they continued to rise, thought this isn't right so came to change my cannula in case it was that to find the current cannula tubing full of blood. This has never happened me in the 3 years I've been on the pump. I'm not sure if that was the issue, although it must be, or whether my taking the cannula out in pure rage over my BS caused it. Either way, it's a rubbish start to what was a great day! How things can change so quickly! Sorry I just needed to vent somewhere where people understand how frustrating diabetes is!!
Hey @Kateyo - well you are definitely in the right place to rant
Not sure what to make of the blood in your cannula - were you in any pain at all ? Just sounds like you hit a blood vessel there, but as it's never happened to me I cannot be sure why it backed up into your cannula.. Put it down to one of those days, take a big deep breath and as I say mentally each time these things happen 'NEXT' !!!
I like the 'next' idea I'm not sure whether the cannula issue was why everything went wrong or whether it was the way I pulled it out in bad temper that caused it lol! No pain at all, only other thing I can think is that my jeans had been resting on it so maybe that has lead to it. Ive got everything back down now so hopefully that's all it was. It's just so frustrating when it happens esp for a control freak like me! Thanks for your message, I appreciate it
