Just thought I would say Hello and introduce myself

Hi I have had type 1 diabetes for 35 years, and have found this site to be fantastic and extremely helpful, so just thought I would join as I am currently going through so much with my diabetes and the doctors do not seem to have a clue what is wrong but the more research I do myself the more things are looking like I am suffering with Diabetic Neuropathy as all symptoms point to this so fingers crossed my diabetic nurse will help, mean while my doc is sending me to a spine specialist as think it is a possible problem there???? if any one has any info or advice on this subject I would be extremely grateful for it as this ha been going on for nearly six months now and I am getting very tired and depressed with the whole situation

Hi, really can't help you here as I have no experience of this, but I'm sure someone will come along soon who does. meanwhile, welcome, and I hope things go well for you.

Hi,

I am new to this forum. My Nan had diabetes. Type II. However last year I started to develop odd physical issues. This included urine infections, going to the toilet a lot, tingling in my hands and plus feet. In addition to this once for a whole day I fell asleep in a sort of coma state.

These symptoms still exist today. However not urine infections but just at times going to the toilet a lot. Plus at times I get this odd pain in my leg. I have seen clear spots before too. There was a mobile testing van for diabetes. Thus I went to have a test. It came back as being a decreased glucose level reading.

Am I meant to visit my GP and explain to her that I have been displaying symptoms of diabetes? There are home testing kits. However is it better to visit the GP? Should they have a diabetes nurse? I am worried because at times I have felt quite tired and lethargic. However it seems to be to do with eating habits rather than depression. Thus if I eat certain foods or if I don't eat every two hours sometimes I feel a slight faint feeling.

Grazer,

I have noticed that you have put on this forum that if you are uncertain about diabetes that you should visit the GP, doctor. I am uncertain if it was in response to me. However thanks for the advice. I was just worried because my Nan had type II diabetes. I get spots, clear, after physical activity or exercise. In addition to this the tingling has not been nice. I have thought why? My feet feel like that there are sparks of electricity and that there is a slight numbness. It is like this odd sensation of tingling after certain activities. Plus at times I have felt lethargic. I am craving orange juice.

I seem to be having to eat every two hours otherwise I feel funny. I was worried because my last few times to the GP my blood pressure was tested. It was higher than it has been in the past (for me). However my glucose levels have not been tested.

I feel that it cannot be depression. This is because it seems to be to do with eating habits and plus the symptoms are slightly different.

Hi newbie here,
thought i'd drop a line and say hello to all. I'm Doreen, 34 and was diagnosed in 2007. been running on very high bg levels since diagnosis and gone through all oral meds upto max doses. My doctor just put me on victoza and was wondering if anyone else was on it and knew a bit more about it. started it 3 days ago. :P

Hi Dobbie,

If possible maybe you can post your question in the greetings and introductions thread. What you do is go to The Board Index at the top of the page, then select Greetings and Introductions, then at the top left there is a button called 'new topic' click on that and submit your message. That way everyone will see you are a new member and will welcome you. Tucked away over here you might be missed :)

Anyway, welcome to the forum Dobbie, you have come to the right place.

Edited to make sure details are correct!

Sorry Dobbie didnn't mean to give you problems (I saw your other post about Victoza) if you go up to the top of the page from here and click on Board Index (at the top on the left) you should go back to the topics. The first one is Greetings and Introductions, click on it, and then you can post a new topic. Let me know if you get stuck, Jane

Hi my name is Autumn & I've just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.... I am a mother of 3 girls & have 1 granddaughter. I am getting my head round being diagnosed although will say its not that much of a shock as had gestational diabetes in my last two pregnancies, and was told it was a possibility that one day I could become diabetic, so here I am.....

Not sure what else to say at moment apart from hello to everyone.....

Hi celticwoman  ' Autumn' is a lovely name. If you have any questions, then just ask. There is always somebody on the forum that can answer.

Ann

Welcome to the forum, mrtips65. There's plenty of people in the same boat as you who also suffer diabetic neuropathy. I hope your doctors figure something out soon- All the best!

Understandably you'll be tired and depressed. Hope the referral to the Spine Specialist brings some positive results.
