Keep dropping, advice pls

Hi all I’ve been off work for the last 7 weeks due to depression and stress. I’m taking anti-d’s and I’m finding that my levels are being affected. I’ve been waking up low every day for 3 weeks or more and so have been reducing the amount of insulin I take. I’m not more than 20 units down from where I was before.

Today I have done a total of 6 units of rapid and 54 units of basal but I cannot get my levels to stay at a reasonable level. I keep dropping and really fast to the point where I felt sick and have had a pounding headache.

I’ve spoken to the diabetic team and they said to keep reducing insulin but won’t really know for 3/4 days if that amount is the correct amount. I’m started to feel really anxious and ill and just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar and what steps did you take? Or any advice about what I should maybe do next?

As a type 1, I continually adjust my insulin amounts. It's easier for me now because I am on a pump and a CGM.

It would really be helpful if I knew you were a type 1 and how long you have been a type 1? If you put it on your profile information page it also really helps everyone to help you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'm a type 2 not on insulin so not the best person to give advice. Are you a type 1 or type 2?

I'm sure someone will be on here soon with more experience to give you some advice. In the meantime my sympathies it sounds like you are having a difficult time over all. As you know stress affects our diabetes- for me it raises my levels.

Anyway welcome.

Hi sorry forgot to put the obvious! I’m a T1 and have been for 19 years. Ive just never experienced anything like this before and feel like I’m now just constantly eating to stop hypos. As mentioned I’m doing little/if any rapid insulin and have reduced my long term quite substantially already.

That basal seems very high compared to bolus. Have you done a basal test as too much basal can lead to the lows.
