So I just turned 54 and 10 days before my birthday I find myself in AMU with a BG of 31mmol/L being told that I am a type 1 diabetic. Nice early birthday present, thanks god!
A month on and I've got over the initial shock I am almost getting used to finger pricking and jacking up on insulin twice a day. I think my missus is more stressed about the diagnosis than I am. My BG is now on the high side of normal and on a positive note, a couple of things that I had been suffering from for over a decade have cleared up since I started injecting, - interesting but more of that later (perhaps in a different thread).
Hope you are all as well as can be expected, looking forward to exploring the site in more detail as and when I get the time. So much to learn!
catch you later,
