People who are touchy.......feign indignation at the slightest thing. Hypocrites, bullies and cowards.
It is with great sadness that we have to inform members of the passing of one of our respected members, Kegstore. He was 41 years old.

Jo (Jonathan) joined this Forum 25th March 2009. Jo was knowledgable, likeable and always kept a great sense of humour. Jo and I (Ken aka cugila) joined around the same time and we had some great discussions about all aspects of Diabetes. We differed over many things, but we always managed to stay friendly. He was a gentleman, someone who will be sadly missed here as well as on Diabetes for Life. RIP Jo.

All,

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Kegstore (Jo) passed away about eight weeks ago. His sister Ruth got in contact with us to let us know.

I thought Jo was one of a kind. In the short time that I knew Jo, both in this forum and in the other place, I found his sense of humour, his ability to discuss the whys and wherefores of our condition, and his willingness to help others in the same situation second to none. These qualities are the very raison d'etre for forums just like this.

The Internet allows us to form mental pictures of the people we talk with, laugh with, cry and argue with, share good and bad news with. My image of Jo will always be one of a warm, happy, caring individual. Regrettably one the world will be a sadder place without.

Ruth kindly sent us two eulogies for Jo which I have attached to this post, to allow you to know a little more about the kind of person Jo was. I'd like to take this opportunity to pass my condolences on to Jo's family, and ask people to contribute to Ruth's Just Giving appeal in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation which can be found at the link below.

All that Tubs said about Jo and the eulogies are what Jo was all about. There is little I could add to the eloquent words already spoken.

I last spoke with Jo via a pm some time ago about a Diabetic group he was involved with and wanted to publicise it here. That was one of the last times I spoke with him.

A caring, compassionate, sharing man.....someone I had time for, someone who also had much time to pass on his knowledge here and on DFL for the benefit of his fellow Diabetic's. A shining example to us all. Someone who gave his time freely to help others.

Many members come and go on the forum. Kegstore is one I will not forget.

He was always willing to share his knowledge and help others on the forum and was a valued and respected poster here.

My thoughts are with his family and all who knew him far better than we did on the forum.

He will be sadly missed.

Kegstore was a real nice guy. He was always willing to post helpful advice and his sense of humour shone through He was a pleasure to have known via the internet.

I read and replied about this last night on DFL.
This morning I'm still shellshocked. This disease is so unforgiving.
. Kegstore had had diabetes for a long time. He'd made some mistakes in the past and learnt from them. He shared a wealth of personal experience with us, and helped many of us to avoid those mistakes. After reading his posts about hypo unawareness, I raised my own bgl levels. What he said made sense.

The news of kegstores passing is terrible news, may I pass on my condolences to his family and friends.

I always enjoyed reading Jo's posts, and although I didn't know him personally, he always came across as a very decent guy indeed. Jo's contribution to the forum will be greatly missed, but I hope his family appreciate the contribution he made here, and the many people he helped along the way.

So sorry to hear of Kegstores passing - in the 12 months I have been on this forum I didn't really get to "know" Jo well but always found his input on here invaluable to those who needed it. He always came over as a generous guy with a great love of life

It's very sad that the world has to lose a man such as this - but they say the best stars shine brightly for a short time - R.I.P. Jo and my condolences to your family, friends and those who knew you here and elsewhere
 
Hi guys

I'm Jo's sister. I wanted to thank you so much for the lovely tribute you posted. I read a copy to Mum & Dad yesterday over lunch and it prompted a few tears but we wanted you to know how much it meant to us. Of course Jo was special to us, but it's really great to hear how he made a difference to other people's lives. It's also a great comfort to know that he will live on in the hearts and minds of others too.

Bless you all for your kind words and keep fighting the good fight - "Kegstore" would expect no less of you!

I too will miss reading Kegstore's posts on the forum. He seemed a very nice person and always helped people with any problems that they had. If it wasn't for Jo posting the importance of carb counting, I would never have found out about how to work out insulin to carb ratios.

When I get my pump, I'll be putting it to good use with Kegstore's spreadsheets which will make him smile.

I've just been reading back over the PM's Jo and I shared and I am truly shocked and saddened to hear he has passed away. He gave me some good (and often funny!) advice! We were on the same side, he and I

I've just seen this post. This is terrible news.

My sincerest condolences to Ruth and Jo's family and friends.

Words really fail in the face of news like this.

There are many many posters on this forum but there are only a few whos posts I always read, Kegstore was one of them, I will miss you fella, RIP Jo
