Had a minor stroke on new years eve 2018. If there is a such thing as a "minor" stroke. Glucose was in the 600 range and probably lucky my heart did not quit while pumping that syrup. Diagnosed type 2 (out of control diabetes caused stroke) and sent home after short hospital stay. Long term and short term insulin the first few weeks then metformin replaced the short term insulin.
Seemed to have a good handle on glucose levels and my diet. Last blood work came back with what the doctor called prediabetes numbers. I dont really have a gage to tell myself how serious or mild my condition is all I know is it is life changing no matter how I deal with it.
After researching and speaking with my Doctor about the keto diet I took the plunge and after one month this is where I am at.
day 3 glucose in the low 70s in the morning, quit insulin
day 6 quit metformin, glucose readings ranging from 70s to 80s
30 days(Present day) 88 average on my meter
Doctor says go back on metformin if morning glucose above 120(no problem here)
I sleep better than I dont know when, and yea I have taken a notch out of my belt but my motivation was not weight so much as it was glucose control.
So I dont know where the end of this is, will my body heal over time if everything remains where it should over a period of time? Is it keto forever?
Its different this keto world, not bad just different. I can see one day wanting a break from it but its not bad and what its doing for me is wonderful.
Its all new to me, diabetes, keto and reaching out like this.
Who else has this worked for?
