Does Harvard get loadsa money from Kraft? I can't figure out why Harvard figure so highly in a lot of the anti keto rhetoric.
Do needle ports get blocked often, just asking out of education.Thank you again, @Indy51, I hope these article can help quell the concerns of doctors about the keto diets.
I note that T1D is not mentioned and I personally think one has to be more careful as a T1D to start on such diets, particularly whilst using an insulin pump. The risks of hypos and of developing keto-acidosis because of a partly obstructed needle port are what have made my adoption of the diet more tentative and careful, and of course I have kept my doctor and DNE in the loop.
Having said that, for me LCHF is the best diabetic diet ever and, so what if I am intolerant of (A1) cow's protein when there is goat and buffalo cheese to be had!!!
There are a number of highly vocal Plant Based diet advocates at Harvard (Walter Willets being the main one). They tend to use the sat fat causes T2 argument a fair bit so low carbing and relying (as a lot of us do) on animal foods and reversing T2 is kind of inconvenient showing their beliefs up to be false.. that's why they are fighting back.. whole careers are at stake!Does Harvard get loadsa money from Kraft? Hi @Mbaker, Nor sure what the incidence is. I have had two needle ports in a row where after battling with unexplained BSLs for several hours I have replaced the needle ports and found on each occasion that the 90 degree angle of the plastic cannula (viewed once removed) is 45 % or less. The problem is that the obstruction alarm on the pump does not work for this but the BSLs rise and only settle once a new needle port is used. The third episode in the past 10 days was where the insulin started to leak under the adhesive holding the needle port on the skin. Maybe the needle port was been disturbed by tension on the tubing in each case but I do tape a section of tubing near the needle port to act as an anchor and in theory prevent direct tension on the needle port itself. Now where are those inventors making a mini-ultrasound to show when the cannula under the skin is out of whack and what about a colour change system to detect when insulin is first leaking under the adhesive ??Do needle ports get blocked often, just asking out of education.
Thanks for explaining. I look forward to the day, hopefully soon when these devices have backup and or warning signals if there are problems.Hi @Mbaker, Nor sure what the incidence is.
