Hi, my son was sent home from school today after being sick, they said his bloods were 25 so when he got home I checked his ketones and they were 1.4. I gave him a correction dose and Within a couple of hours they were down to 0.3 and his bloods were 13.

He's been sick once more since he finished school but his bloods have all been fine. Checked half an hour ago and his BG was 4.5, decided to double check the ketones and they were back up to 1.4.

I've got him to drink more water and need to check again in half an hour but apart from the water what can I do since he doesn't need any insulin.
 
He had an apple but brought it back up, they've dropped to 0.9 now so I'm hoping it's just from
Not eating and drinking properly. Thank you for replying

That's no problem:)

Just remember to try and keep the water flowing. It's important for your son to also keep using insulin even though he probably has no appetite just now.

Keep basaling as normal and if possible, things like orange juice with the right amount of bolus insulin should keep him ticking over just fine. I'll tag @noblehead who has a great flowchart for "sick day rules" which I forgot to steal last time he posted it:)
